Installing Internet Explorer in Linux, Kubuntu Hardy

You can run Internet Explorer in linux by installing IEs4Linux.

You can download the script from this page.

and untar the file:

tar xzvf ies4linux-2.99.0.tar.gz

cd ies4linux-2.99.0

and type :

sudo ./ies4linux

this will download other components and run IE using Wine. This by default will install to

$HOME/bin/ie6

so to run it go to your home directory/bin

and type

./ie6

the program is slow, it’s not for day-to-day browsing.

IEs4Linux 2 is developed to be used with recent Wine versions (0.9.x). It seems that you are using an old version. It’s recommended that you update your wine to the latest version (Go to: winehq.com).

No user interface available. Use command-line ies4linux or install pygtk. Details: http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/No_GUI

    Building dependency tree

  2. Why oh WHY is the reply text the EXACT same color as the text box?

Anyway, download & install the latest NON-beta version of firefox, then use firefox itself to search for & download & install a firefox add-on called “IE View Lite” at
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1429
