Backing up Thunderbird 3 in Linux

First, find the profile folder, in Linux it is at : ~/.thunderbird/<your profile>

Ubuntu create a symbolic link to .thunderbird folder  from: ~/.mozilla-thunderbird/

Archive the .thunderbird folder by doing:

tar czvf thunderbird-backup.tgz ~/.thunderbird

Note that the emails are by default also stored in that profile folder. So copy and and back-up this folder is enough.
